Inspirations Studio is delighted to be working with Industrial Design students from OCAD U in the creation of a series of designs for a mobile cart/display unit for the transportation of our pottery.
The members of Inspirations Studio sell their ceramics at different locations, festivals and community events in Toronto, in addition to in front of Sistering at Bloor and Dovercourt. Members use the TTC for their means of transportation and moving breakable, heavy pottery poses many challenges. To resolve this issue, the staff of Inspirations Studio approached the faculty of OCAD U Industrial Design program to create a solution for our problem.
Presently, three classes have toured the studio to gather information on the requirements for some type of hand propelled pottery mover. Working in small groups, the students have been interviewing the members to determine the requirements for this unit with respect to specific needs of various members. By the end of the term, the students will create several designs which will made into prototypes. All of the prototypes will be presented to the members and two designs will be selected by the members to be fabricated for their use. The members are very excited about this project and are engaged in the collaboration. The studio is looking forward to seeing working drawings later this month.
Inspirations Studio really appreciates the dedication, support and interest of all the OCADU Industrial Design Students and Faculty. Stay tuned for details!
